PDO Threads

PDO threads are surgical threads made of polydioxanone. This sterile and dissolvable material has been used for decades in the medical world, and as a cosmetic treatment, it can reverse aging by tightening and lifting the skin.

PDO threads create a scaffolding effect when inserted below the skin’s surface to promote increased collagen and elastin production. The treatment can tighten, lift, and smooth the skin to combat and reverse the aging process.

What Do They Treat?

PDO threads treat skin laxity, the effects of decreased collagen and elastin production, and can reverse the aging process on both the face and the body. We use them in our Nonsurgical Facelift, but they can also be administered to perform a neck lift alternative. We can also administer them to different body areas exhibiting the effects of the aging process and the resulting skin laxity to smooth out crêpey skin.

Some common treatment areas on the body include the abdomen and knees. We can use PDO threads to smooth lines and wrinkles on the face and body, contour and add volume to cheeks that have flattened with the aging process, tighten loose skin, and reduce the appearance of jowls. We can also use them to treat nasolabial folds and marionette lines, smooth wrinkled skin on the chest or neck, and help patients naturally achieve a more youthful-looking appearance.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Once PDO threads are inserted with a cannula just below the surface of your skin, they’ll immediately begin working to lift and tighten the treatment area. The body will respond to their presence with a natural increase in collagen and elastin production.

Within six months of the treatment, the PDO threads will dissolve and be absorbed and eliminated by the body, but the treatment results will continue to improve for a year or longer as the body produces new collagen and elastin.
