Unlike laser treatments that work at the skin’s surface, Sofwave™ targets the deeper structural layer responsible for skin firmness, leaving the surface completely undisturbed. Sofwave™is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment of fine lines and wrinkles using a next generation SUPERB™ Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam Technology. In December 2022 Sofwave™ was approved by FDA for the short-term improvement of cellulite, making it another viable option for cellulite.
The fractional heating effect created by Sofwave’s unique ultrasound delivery, stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin which leads to the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
How does Sofwave™ work?
The depth for treating wrinkles is 1.5mm in the mid-dermis. Our unique, Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam SUPERB™ technology generates heat at this exact depth in the mid-dermis. Additionally, there is an integrated cooling mechanism Sofcool ™ that protects the uppermost skin layer from burning.
The impacted treatment zones stimulate a healing response, called neo-collagenases, which increases and regenerates the collagen in the skin, leading to the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

How to Prepare For Sofwave™ Treatment
Preparing for Sofwave™ is straightforward, but a few simple steps beforehand can help support a smooth experience and the best possible results.
Limit Sun Exposure
In the days leading up to your appointment, avoid excessive sun exposure. Recently tanned or sunburned skin can be more sensitive and may affect how treatment is performed. Daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen helps protect the skin and maintain an even baseline going in.
Arrive With Clean Skin
On the day of your appointment, come in with clean skin free of makeup, lotions or oils. This allows the treatment to be performed evenly and without interference.

What to Expect During Your Sofwave™ Appointment
Your Sofwave™ experience at Still Well Med Spa begins with a thorough consultation where we evaluate your skin, discuss your goals and confirm the right treatment areas for you. Every session is tailored to deliver the results you’re looking for while keeping you comfortable throughout. On the day of your Sofwave™ treatment:
We’ll start by cleansing the skin and applying a topical numbing cream to maximize comfort during the session.
Once the numbing has taken effect, your provider will guide the Sofwave™ handpiece across the treatment area. The SUPERB™ technology delivers seven synchronized ultrasound beams at a depth of 1.5mm in the mid-dermis, while the integrated Sofcool™ system continuously cools the skin surface. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief, controlled warmth.
Treatment typically takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the size and number of areas being addressed.
When the session is complete, you’re free to go. There’s no cooling mask or recovery serum required afterward. Sofwave™ fits easily into a lunch break or an afternoon appointment with nothing to disrupt the rest of your day.
Sofwave™ Recovery and Aftercare
One of the most practical things about Sofwave™ is that there’s very little to recover from. There are no wounds, no peeling and no period where you need to stay home or avoid being seen.
Immediately after treatment, your skin may appear slightly pink or feel warm. This is a normal response and typically resolves within an hour or two. Most patients apply sunscreen and go about their day without any visible sign that a treatment was performed.
In the days following your session, no special aftercare routine is required. Keeping the skin hydrated and protected from the sun is the most important thing you can do to support your results. Broad-spectrum sunscreen should be worn daily, and it’s a good idea to hold off on harsh exfoliants or active ingredients for a few days if your skin feels at all sensitive.
Results from Sofwave™ develop gradually over three to six months as new collagen is produced. This means there’s no dramatic before-and-after moment immediately post-treatment, but the improvements that emerge over time are real, lasting and look entirely natural. Annual maintenance treatments are generally recommended to sustain those results as the skin continues to age.

Today there are various energy-based technologies designed to treat facial lines and wrinkles. Aggressive options (such as lasers) can cause significant damage to the skin surface, leading to a long healing period, considerable downtime and may have a high risk of side effects. Even RF micro needling treatments, that have recently become popular, can be uncomfortable, risky and require downtime.
Gentler, non-invasive solutions (such as IPL and noninvasive RF) have shown limited efficacy, and in most cases, require multiple treatments.
Sofwave™’s unique technology enables the controlled delivery of energy, in terms of amount and location, while protecting the skin surface with an integrated cooling mechanism. Even better, there is no downtime.
Typically, the treatment protocol calls for 1-2 treatments, depending on the patient’s skin condition.
As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you may feel warmness of the skin. Treatment is comfortable simply by applying a topical anesthetic cream just prior to the treatment. Following the treatment, there are no sensations and there is no need to apply special care on the skin. Daily care can be resumed immediately post treatment.
The collagen regeneration process can sometimes take up to 12 weeks, so patients are expected to see ongoing improvements in the 3-month period after their treatment.

Yes. Because Sofwave™ doesn’t disrupt the skin’s surface, most patients can apply makeup the same day as their treatment. If you experience any mild redness or sensitivity afterward, give your skin an hour or two before applying anything and stick to gentle products.
Most patients can return to normal activity, including exercise, the same day. If your skin feels warm or sensitive immediately after your session, it’s reasonable to wait a few hours before anything strenuous. Your provider will let you know if there are any specific considerations based on your treatment.
