Awaken Your Skin's True Potential

Awaken Your Skin’s True Potential

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated portion of your very own blood that helps spur cellular revitalization and healing. At Still Well Med Spa, we proudly provide platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), a more effective and longer-lasting mix of healing properties that also includes stem cells to provide superior cellular revitalization and aesthetic results!

What Is PRP and How Does It Work?

PRP is a platelet-rich derivative of your blood. Platelets are cell fragments in your blood that carry growth factors to tell your body to repair tissue and generate new cells. To create PRP, a small vial of blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge to separate the blood into layers. The platelet-rich layer is isolated into a concentrated serum.

When applied to the skin or injected beneath it, the growth factors can stimulate collagen and elastin production. They can also increase blood flow and encourage healthy new tissue in the area where they were injected. Substances that are derived from the patient’s own body come with a low risk of reactions.

The Difference Between PRP and PRF

At Still Well Med Spa, we use platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). PRF is spun at a lower centrifuge speed, which preserves a natural protein scaffold called a fibrin matrix, along with the platelets. This scaffold releases the growth factors more gradually and can produce longer-lasting results. PRF also retains white blood cells and stem cells for a more robust regeneration response.

PRP Facial and PRP Facelift

xperience the innovative and transformative power of the PRP Facial and PRP Facelift, two revolutionary treatments that harness the healing and rejuvenating properties of your own blood to enhance the natural beauty of your skin. At Still Well Med Spa, we are dedicated to providing you with exceptional care and personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique skincare needs.

PRP Facial

The PRP Facial is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that combines microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. PRP improves skin texture, and restores a youthful glow. This multi-step treatment begins with a thorough microneedling session to create microchannels in your skin, allowing for better absorption of the PRP. The PRP is then applied to your face, promoting healing and rejuvenation from within. The PRP Facial is ideal for addressing concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, uneven texture, and dull complexion.

PRP Facelift

The PRP Facelift is a non-surgical facelift procedure that combines the power of PRP therapy with the strategic use of dermal fillers. This innovative treatment revitalizes and lifts the face, providing natural-looking results without the need for surgery. The procedure begins with the collection of your blood, from which the PRP is extracted. The PRP is then strategically injected into specific areas of the face, stimulating collagen production and promoting tissue regeneration. Additionally, dermal fillers may be used to restore volume, contour facial features, and enhance overall facial rejuvenation. The PRP Facelift is suitable for individuals who desire a refreshed and more youthful appearance without undergoing invasive surgery.

Who Is a Good Candidate for PRP Treatments?

Who Is a Good Candidate for PRP Treatments? PRP is suitable for most healthy adults with no underlying blood conditions. Your provider will evaluate factors like your overall health, skin condition, current medications and goals before recommending treatment. PRP is compatible with all skin types and tones, and is suitable for those who want a gradual and natural-looking improvement that comes from improving the health and quality of the skin.

Who Is Not a Good Candidate for PRP Treatments?

Patients with platelet dysfunction syndromes or those on anticoagulant medication may not be eligible. Active skin infections or severe inflammatory acne in the treatment area should be fully resolved first. Pregnant or nursing individuals should postpone treatment, and patients with a history of blood-related cancers will need medical clearance.

How Many PRP Sessions Do I Need?

You may see noticeable improvement after just one session, but most people schedule a series of three or four treatments to get better results. These sessions are scheduled with six to eight weeks in between. With each treatment, your skin will be able to complete a collagen-rebuilding cycle, and the results will build on each other.

How to Prepare for PRP Treatment

  • Avoid blood thinners: Stop aspirin, ibuprofen and other NSAIDs at least one week before your appointment, unless otherwise directed by your prescribing physician. These medications reduce platelet function.
  • Skip certain supplements: Fish oil, vitamin E and herbal supplements like ginkgo biloba can thin the blood and should be paused for five to seven days prior.
  • Stay hydrated: Well-hydrated blood produces a better platelet yield during the centrifuge process. Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours before your visit.
  • Arrive with clean skin: Come with no makeup, sunscreen or heavy skincare products on the treatment area.
  • Eat beforehand: A meal before your appointment helps maintain stable blood sugar and reduces the chance of lightheadedness during the blood draw.

What Happens During Your PRP Appointment

The blood draw for PRP is similar to labs that you may have had in the past. We take a vial of blood from your arm and then place it directly into the centrifuge, where it spins for 10 to 15 minutes. While the blood is processing, your provider will cleanse and prepare your skin. The PRP is then placed in a syringe, ready for topical use or injections.

For a PRP Facial, your provider will perform a pass with the microneedling device. We offer options for traditional microneedling as well as radiofrequency microneedling with the Lutronic® Genius™ RF device. Then, the PRP or PRF is applied directly onto the freshly treated skin, where it absorbs through the tiny channels made during microneedling.

For a PRP Facelift, the PRP will be injected into the desired areas of the face with a fine needle. Then, dermal fillers will be added to restore volume and contour the face. The dermal fillers used will depend on the areas you and your provider discussed during your consultation. We carry the JUVÉDERM family of fillers, including JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC, ULTRA PLUS XC and ULTRA XC.

After Your PRP Treatment

After Your PRP Treatment

With PRP facials and facelifts, it is normal to have some sensitivity in the treatment area, along with some redness at the injection sites and wherever microneedling was performed. This is part of your body’s healing response. Results from PRP are not immediate because your body will need time to build collagen. However, if we use dermal fillers, you will be able to see immediate volumizing and contouring.

PRP Aftercare Instructions

  • Keep the area clean: Avoid touching your face for at least six hours. Use a gentle cleanser and pat dry.
  • No makeup for 24 hours: Cosmetics can introduce bacteria into the micro-channels created by microneedling.
  • Avoid sun exposure: Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and limit direct sun for at least one week.
  • Skip intense exercise: Hold off on heavy workouts, saunas and steam rooms for 48 hours.
  • No retinoids or exfoliants: Pause retinol, glycolic acid and other active ingredients for at least five days.
