Reveal Your Inner Radiance With the Hollywood Laser Peel®

Not all laser treatments are created equal. The Hollywood Laser Peel is a perfect example of how new innovations can build on this already promising technology.

We should know — our physician-led team at Still Well of Staten Island has personally witnessed the power of Hollywood Laser Peel to outperform the “same old” laser treatments in several key categories, and we have a long line of happy clients to prove it!

But how exactly is Hollywood Laser Peel different? What does it do better? Might you be a candidate for this treatment?

Consider this your all-in-one guide to all things Hollywood Laser Peel. First and foremost, let’s review how this treatment works.

Introducing the Hollywood Laser Peel

Powered by the Hollywood SpectraTM laser, a proprietary platform that is the first of its kind to achieve FDA-approval for melasma, the Hollywood Laser Peel is widely hailed as the best laser treatment in the land for its innovative technology and undeniable results.

Hollywood Laser Peel uses a three-step process to effectively address a wide range of issues at both superficial and deeper levels of the skin.

Thanks to its versatile delivery system, this treatment can target problem spots (hyperpigmentation, scarring, acne, etc.) as well as provide general resurfacing and toning of the skin. Hollywood Laser Peel also exfoliates the skin, and can address unwanted roughness and skin tone issues with zero downtime.

How the Hollywood Laser Peel Rejuvenates Your Skin

Here’s a brief overview of the abovementioned 3-step process that Hollywood Laser Peel® uses to provide comprehensive skin rejuvenation:

A specialized carbon lotion is applied to the skin, which then soaks deep into the pores and bonds securely with the superficial skin layer.

Next, the laser uses long pulses to reach deep into the skin and stimulate several important processes that contribute to cleansing and repair. For example, this step kickstarts skin cell regeneration while addressing inflammation.

Then, the laser applies super short, superficial pulses to remove the carbon from the lotion, taking with it the superficial layer of skin that it bonded with. This is the “crowd pleaser” aspect of the treatment because it leaves you with a very vibrant, even-toned, and fresh-faced appearance.

Pairing long pulses and short pulses helps to broaden the applications of this treatment, which include the following:

Long Pulse (1064 nm)

  • Removal or lightening of unwanted hair
  • Treatment of common moles
  • Dark tattoo ink removal
  • Skin resurfacing for acne scars
  • Treatment of wrinkles
  • Melasma (dark spots on the skin due to excess pigment)

Short Pulse (532 nm)

  • Light ink tattoo removal
  • Superficial skin resurfacing (acne, wrinkles, etc.)
  • Hyperpigmentation spot removal
  • Treatment of some mole types (Becker’s nevi)
  • Reducing the appearance of freckles
  • Removing small vascular lesions

How to Get the Most Out of Your Treatment

Your prep and aftercare routines can significantly impact the potency and duration of results.

But before delving into prep and aftercare best practices, it’s important to determine whether you are eligible for a Hollywood Laser Peel in the first place.

The best way to confidently establish your eligibility is to consult with our highly trained and experienced team at Still Well of Staten Island. Until then, familiarizing yourself with the factors that may affect your eligibility can give you a clearer picture of your eligibility.

Determining Your Eligibility for Hollywood Laser Peel

Though Hollywood Laser Peel is a very gentle, noninvasive treatment, there may still be safety or efficacy concerns for people in certain circumstances (medications, medical history, etc.).

The following factors in this non-exhaustive list may affect your eligibility for Hollywood Laser Peel®:

  • Recent use of blood-thinning medications (one week or less)
  • History of keloid scarring or other disrupted wound healing patterns
  • Abnormal and/or cancerous lesions
  • Use of Accutane within the past six months
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding (precaution)
  • Poorly managed diabetes or vascular conditions
  • Implanted devices within the desired treatment area
  • High photosensitivity and/or allergies
  • Impaired immunity

Not all of these factors will automatically disqualify you, which is why it’s important to consult a licensed provider so that your specific case can be reviewed.

Prep Best Practices

Anyone using Accutane needs to pause treatment for at least six months prior to Hollywood Laser Peel treatment.

It’s also important to avoid other aesthetic procedures — even minimally invasive treatments — for at least three weeks prior to your Hollywood Laser Peel.

Drying or irritating topical products, such as retinoids, should be ceased for at least 48 hours prior to treatment, as should over-the-counter acne medications like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and others.

Finally, minimizing sun exposure and/or using proper sun protection for at least 3-4 days leading up to your treatment is very important to ensure success.

Aftercare Recommendations

Your post-care recommendations will be largely individualized, but in general, it’s important to avoid all sun exposure, harsh exfoliants and chemicals for at least seven days, public pools and hot tubs for at least 24 hours, and other aesthetic treatments for at least two weeks.

It’s also a wise practice to review with your provider any medications or topicals you plan on using after Hollywood Laser Peel treatment, as well as any vacations or other events that may involve sun exposure and/or immersion in water.
